A 5-Year-Old Girl's Injuries at Querencia Los Cabos: What Hospital Records Show, and What Querencia Real Estate Wrote
On March 25, 2025, a truck bearing Querencia markings rear-ended a golf cart at Querencia Los Cabos in Mexico, and a 5-year-old girl was thrown from it. Prosecutors' records place her arrival at Hospital H+ Los Cabos at around 10:40 a.m. Her discharge order records a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 9 on arrival in the trauma room, which improved to 14 after initial treatment. Hospital records describe the child's injuries as pediatric polytrauma, a pulmonary contusion and laceration, a traumatic pneumatocele and a pneumothorax, with a guarded prognosis. She was hospitalized from March 25 to March 28, 2025. In a February 4, 2026 written response to prosecutors, Querencia Real Estate, S. de R.L. de C.V., stated, among other points, that she was taken "to a hospital to rule out any injury that could result from the traffic incident" (translated from Spanish). In the same response, the company offered the truck for inspection.

From the crash to the hospital
In Mexico, state prosecutors (the Ministerio Público) keep the record of an investigation in an investigation file (carpeta de investigación).
According to a statement in the investigation file, the right front tire of the truck, which weighs more than 500 kilograms (over 1,100 pounds), ran over the girl's body.
A report of the prosecutors' traffic-offenses unit dated March 27, 2025, and the early-response unit's notice place her arrival at Hospital H+ Los Cabos at around 10:40 a.m.
Her discharge order records a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 9 on arrival in the trauma room, which improved to 14 after initial treatment. The scale, from 3 to 15, rates a patient's responsiveness; higher is better.
The hospital's notice to prosecutors records significant respiratory distress, crackles in both lungs and reduced oxygen levels.
The diagnosis, according to the medical records
According to the medical records, the diagnosis was pediatric polytrauma, head trauma and blunt chest trauma. Polytrauma means injuries to several parts of the body.
The same records list a pulmonary contusion and laceration, a traumatic pneumatocele and a 10% laminar pneumothorax, with a guarded prognosis. In plain terms: a bruised and torn lung, an air-filled pocket inside the lung, and air between the lung and the chest wall. A guarded prognosis is the medical term for an uncertain outlook.
According to the March 28, 2025 discharge order, she had an extensive pulmonary contusion with traumatic pneumatoceles. The order notes a "guarded outlook" (translated from Spanish: "evolución reservada") and a "high risk of superinfection or rupture of the pneumatocele" (translated from Spanish: "alto riesgo de superinfección o rotura del neumatocele").
On March 25, 2025, the on-duty physician at Hospital H+ Los Cabos described the injuries to a state investigator as ones that "may put her life at risk" (translated from Spanish).
The hospital stay
According to her discharge order, the girl was hospitalized from March 25 to March 28, 2025. Its instructions on leaving were no immersion in water and no contact sports.

What Querencia Real Estate wrote
In a February 4, 2026 written response to an official request from prosecutors dated January 29, 2026, Querencia Real Estate, S. de R.L. de C.V., through its attorney, stated, among other points, that the golf cart "was rear-ended by the Querencia truck, which caused a minor to be thrown from the golf cart" and that the minor "was taken to a hospital to rule out any injury that could result from the traffic incident" (translated from Spanish).
Querencia Real Estate submitted that written response on February 4, 2026, almost 11 months after the accident, signed by its attorney, Francisco Javier Troncoso Valle. According to a statement in the investigation file, that move "makes it impossible to carry out any further investigative act" (translated from Spanish: "imposibilita la práctica de cualquier acto de investigación posterior").
